What is DOAJ? Directory of Open Access journals (DOAJ) is a service which collects and lists scientific and scholarly Open Access journals. Our aim is to cover all languages and subjects. The project was initiated at the First Nordic Conference on Scholarly Communication in 2002 and has since its start been steadily growing, thanks to economic support from our sponsors and members.
The most comprehensive online directory, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), listed only 35 e-journals under the Library and Information Science category in March 2005, while in December 2006 this number touched 68 and in December 2008 there were 96 journals in this directory. It has therefore trebled within nearly three years.
